Did you know that every year thousands of golf balls are lost in our planet's waterways? This probably does not surprise anyone who plays golf. What harm could a little golf ball do anyways? Well, new studies are coming to light that the little golf ball is a big problem. As they break down they release their contents into the ecosystem.
A modern golf ball is made from the following: thermoplastics, zinc oxide, zinc acrylate, benzoyl peroxide, heavy metals, polybutadiene, and other secret combinations of exotic materials not disclosed by the manufacturer. These are not good for the planet!
Don't forget about the plastic portion of the ball either. As it breaks down the plastic turns into microplastics. From the deepest depths of the ocean to the snow of the Artic microplastics have been found by pollution researchers to invade every corner of our planet. The size of the current microplastic pollution problem is huge! Estimates are between 15 trillion and 51 trillion microplastic particles of the stuff in the water on Earth. You know what is the Ocean Clean-up Project?
Does this you? Well, one way to fight this problem is for every golfer to find every ball ever. Now I know this probably will not happen.
A group of Canadians have come up with a better solution, a 100% eco-friendly biodegradable golf ball! These are environmentally friendly balls that dissolve in water. These dissolvable golf balls are made from simple corn starch and a PVA coating. Nothing plastic, toxic or harmful is released when they break down. Read more about Bio-Plastic.
These balls are available for sale on their website and they will send them anywhere they need to be to help make a difference. Learn How to Shop Ethically. I also found them on Amazon but for Amazon Canada and Amazon USA.
